Stresa is situated on the western shore of Lake Maggiore, one of the most beautiful locations in Italy. The International Festival runs for a week in early September and this year features music from the Baroque and Classical periods, as well as a taste of jazz! The 250th anniversary of the Beethoven's birth is celebrated with Piano Sonatas performed by Sir Andras Schiff and Andrea Lucchesini, and an all-Beethoven programme with the Adda Sinfonica. As well as enjoying five concerts, we will explore the charming Borromean Islands (with the opportunity for lunch under your own arrangements at one of the many cafes or restaurants on the Isola Pescatore) and take the cable car to Mottarone which affords panoramic views over Stresa and the Lake. We will stay in the Regina Palace Hotel which is a short walk from the Stresa Convention Centre where all of the concerts take place, and is also close to Stresa Pier from where we will take our trip to the Borromean Islands.
